Seward from Sheffield, Massachusetts, around 50 miles west of Springfield arrived at the Dorchester lottery headquarters on January 26 to claim his money, according to the Miami Herald.

Troy from Mansfield, Massachusetts, around 30 miles south of Boston, arrived at the headquarters around 25 minutes after to also claim his money.

Both men purchased their tickets from different locations.

Seward bought his at Silk’s Variety liquor store in Sheffield while Troy purchased his card at a 7-Eleven in Mansfield.

Despite their $1 million wins, both men walked away with significantly less money as they both decided to take the lump sum.

This means the winners took home $650,000 before taxes.

Big value lottery wins can be claimed as a lump sum or in annual installments which are typically spread over 20 years.

Seward said he discovered the good news while drinking a glass of wine at his home.

He said had been looking through his bills when he decided to check the lottery ticket.

Seward, a small business owner, said he plans to invest his prize into his business.

Troy told officials that he was unsure how he would spend his winnings.

The U.S. Sun has previously reported on lottery winners who took home less money than they had won.

One lottery player took away $180,000 from a $1 million win because of an agreement with their friend.
